MINISTERS OF CHRIST: STEWARDSHIP, AND THE MATTER OF REWARDS AND LOSSES.
The fear of some brothers concerning hell leads them to try their best to deliberately misinterpret the following verses of Scripture.
1 Corinthians 3:15
If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
1 Corinthians 9:27
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
These brothers argue that the judgment of believers and believing ministers is about rewards and never about losing their salvation, and then go about trying to panel beat these verses into the grotesque shapes that resemble the caricatures of their version of the gospel of salvation
With much futility.
Wherefore, I ask that you o reader…concerning the matter of ministers of the gospel, their stewardship affecting or not affecting their salvation and their rewards, and the words of Jesus the Lord
TO PLEASE READ WITH ME
“Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning;
“and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.
“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.
“And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Then Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?”
And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
“Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.
“Truly, I say to you that HE WILL MAKE HIM RULER OVER ALL THAT HE HAS.
“But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,
“the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will CUT HIM IN TWO AND APPOINT HIM HIS PORTION WITH THE UNBELIEVERS.
“And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be BEATEN WITH MANY STRIPES.
“But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be BEATEN WITH FEW. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
Please note Servant type 1 in verse 43&44 who does well, whose works are approved by the Lord, and who receives a full reward.
And note Servant type 2, both in verse 48 who does not do well because he does not know to do well, and is lightly punished…i.e. he suffers some losses.
And in verse 47, who knows to do well, and does not do well; and is severely punished; i.e. he suffers severe losses
Now note Servant type 3, in verse 45&46, who is not only careless concerning the will of His Commander-in-Chief but enters into loose living and corrupting influences.
HE IS CUT OFF AND APPOINTED A PORTION WITH THE UNFAITHFUL AND UNBELIEVING!
(Also note the principle in verse 48 and compare it with James 3:1)
This is the EXACT testimony of Paul in his letter to Corinth
1 Corinthians 3:14
If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, HE WILL RECEIVE A REWARD.
1 Corinthians 3:15
If anyone’s work is burned, HE WILL SUFFER LOSS; but HE HIMSELF WILL BE SAVED, yet so as through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 3:17
If anyone defiles the temple of God, GOD WILL DESTROY HIM. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
Servant 1. Receives a full reward
Servant 2. Suffers losses, but is himself saved
Servant 3. Destroyed by God for corrupting His church, His building, His house.
1 Corinthians 3:18
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
Please help all these brothers whose fear of God’s judgment makes them to isolate themselves and break out against all clear scripture and sound judgment, coming up with all kinds of useless ‘wisdom’ to cover up their shenanigans …..
Warn them to stop being wise in their own eyes, half-clever in their own conceit, master twisters of Scripture; and rather to become become fools, people simple enough to accept what is written and foolish enough to reject that ungodly boldness to reject it.
That they may become wise in the Lord and not lose their reward, or their precious salvation….beg them…plead with them…weep for them….pray with all your heart.
Please….Why not just repent and be faithful to the one who called you?
Or are you not called?
