Good morning, Church,
Last school year, I lived in the most affordable hostel on my school campus, but it was in a terrible state. My room was small, the toilets were in poor condition, and we often went from not having water to the hostel being flooded
One night, as I lay in bed getting ready to sleep, I suddenly heard the sound of buckets in the hallway being knocked over, followed by a loud crash. When I went out to check, I saw a large rat lying dead by my door. It had been running from another animal, attempted to climb my door, but fell and died. I was horrified.
On another occasion, I lifted my pillow and found a black caterpillar clinging to it.
In both instances, though I felt like breaking down in frustration, I remembered what Pastor Sola always says about turning our pain into prayer and praise. So, instead of complaining, I prayed earnestly, asking God not to let me stay in that hostel the following academic year.
As time passed, I forgot about those incidents and even tried to retain my room for the next year. However, none of my applications went through. I even attempted to use connections, but I still didn’t get a room.
Since I had no accommodation, I had to move my belongings into a family friend’s apartment and start commuting from her house, which was close to school. After I moved in, she asked if I would like to rent her room. She was traveling to Canada for an extended visit and would only be in Nigeria for a few weeks in 2025. It was a great opportunity, but I couldn’t afford the rent on short notice. I prayed about it and kept hoping for the best.
On the day of her departure, she told me she had decided to pay the rent herself so she would have a place to stay whenever she visited Nigeria. She gave me her room for free!
Another blessing is that her housemates are believers who have been friends with my siblings and me for many years.
God heard my prayers! It has been a few months now, and living here with these amazing women has been a blessing.
Praise the Lord with me, Church!
